Eddy Abou Karam contested his first dry-weather rally in the Hyundai i20 R5 at the second round of the 2017 Lebanese Rally Championship, the 6th Jezzine Rally, which was held on the weekend of June 3-4.
Eddy and co-driver Joseph Kmeid took things easy on the first day of the event, which consisted of two short special stages, and ranked 8th overall ahead of Day 2, which had 9 special stages.
On the second day of Jezzine Rally, Eddy was able to increase his pace and soon found himself fighting for 4th place. However, the Hyundai’s gear lever broke with 2 stages to go, which meant Eddy had to drive without it and eventually settle for 5th place overall.
EAK learned a lot from his first race on the Hyundai in normal conditions and will be looking to make further progress in the coming round, the Cedars Rally, which is scheduled for July 8-9.
